On the 16th of January 2013 I began my journey to become a cadet for the one year practical biological horticulture training in Samoa under Organic Matters Foundation and Soil Health Pacific, sponsored by the Berrysmith Foundation in New Zealand.

I am from The Netherlands and moved to New Zealand in 2005. I have a background in Social Work, but decided to change careers in 2010 after a Permaculture Design Course with Darren Doherty at Rainbow Valley Farm in Matakana New Zealand. For the last 2 years I have been wwoofing and completed the 1st year Organic Horticulture at the Biological Husbandry Unit at Lincoln University in Christchurch.

I hope to be able to learn a lot about Samoa, the culture and the people, the land and how to grow produce organically and be able to bring this knowledge back to my sponsor’s organic farm.

Stay tuned, I hope you enjoy my blog!
