Aquaponics Trial Officially Handed Over

09-Jan-2012

After several years of successful production of both carp, herbs and lettuces the trial has been officially handed over to Tasman Bay Herbs for their peak Summer demands and beyond. Just prior to handover, we introduced a few hundred Chinook Salmlon, kindly donated by King Salmon.  It has been touted for years that salmon will not survive in water temperatures over 15 degrees C.  Amazingly enough, temperatures have reached over 18 degrees C and they have been eating and surviving well.  It will be interesting to see how many survive going into the warmer summer months.  A higher protein feed than that for carp has to be fed to salmon.
