Edible Garden Plans for Auckland City

The Garden to Table Trust is working alongside Waterfront Auckland on the garden project, which will also include a kitchen classroom, with the aim of educating and inspiring 500-600 children per week on growing, harvesting, preparing and sharing the food grown in the garden.

Bordering Daldy and Madden Streets, the organic garden is in the convenient position of benefitting from the organic waste and coffee grounds from its neighbouring restaurants.
Trust founder and chair Catherine Bell says the project provides new visibility for its work: “Simply by educating kids about where food comes from we have the potential to change attitudes and habits of whole future generations. Both children and adults learn experiences that will influence and inform them and it will be brilliant to have this new space in such a high traffic area as the Wynyard Quarter.”
